Stuck partway through?
The three checks, what happens after you apply, and how money reaches your account. If you are still deciding whether to join rather than trying to finish signing up, the FAQ answers that instead.

The three checks
What we ask for before you can take a booking, and what happens to it.
Your ABN
It confirms the business is real and registered to you. We check it against the national register, so the name and the number have to match the business you are signing up.
A government photo ID
A driver licence or passport, photographed so every corner is in frame and the text is readable. Most rejections at this step are a photo too dark or too cropped, not a problem with the document.
Public liability insurance
A current certificate of currency. Check the expiry before you upload: a certificate that has already lapsed is the second most common rejection.
Where your documents go
Into private storage, seen by the person reviewing your application. They are never shown on your public profile and never sent to a customer. What a customer sees is that the check passed.
After you apply
What happens between uploading and taking your first booking.
A person reviews it, not a script
That is why we do not quote a turnaround in minutes. You will be told the moment it is done, and you do not need to keep the page open.
Keep setting up while you wait
Your services, prices, hours, service area and payout account can all be finished while your documents are in review. None of it is lost if something needs re-uploading.
A document came back rejected
You will be told which one and why, and you can upload a replacement without starting the application again. Fix the named document and the review continues from where it stopped.
Your city has not opened yet
Then your application is held rather than turned down. We open cities one at a time so that a customer searching in yours finds more than one business. Everything you have set up stays exactly as it is until yours opens.
Getting paid
How money reaches your bank account, and when.
Your own Stripe account, your own bank
Payouts go from Stripe into the account you connect during setup. The money does not sit with Autara and is not passed through us.
Deposit first, balance at the end
A customer pays a deposit to confirm the booking, which is what makes it a real job rather than an enquiry. The balance is captured when you mark the work complete.
The first payout is the slow one
Stripe holds the first payout on a new Australian account longer than later ones while it verifies the account. That hold is Stripe's, not ours, and it clears on its own. After that, payouts typically land within days.
A payout has not arrived
Check the bank details on your Stripe account first, since a mistyped BSB is the usual cause. If they are right and it is still missing, contact us with the booking and we will trace it with you.
Still stuck?
Tell us where you are in the process and what you are seeing. If you are mid-application, include the business name you signed up with so we can find it.
